Tyra Shares Her Summer Beauty Tips with us!

If you are having a bad hair day especially with this crazy heat here are some tips from Tyra which we can all take to the Bank... I will be trying this out.

"A bad, bad hair day, I slick my hair back. I put water on it first, a little oil, a little grease, a little vita-pointe, and then I do it in a twist, twirl it around with a million bobby pins, and then I get the little baby hairs around my edges and slick them down with some brown gel, or clear gel, and then I tie a scarf around it. Then, I get in the shower, put my make-up on, get dressed, and right when I’m about to walk out that door I pull it off, and it looks like that was done on purpose."

Tyra also suggestions using a wet wash cloth to set your makeup and to get rid of excess powder build up.

Summer heat can also make it harder to put your best face forward with sweat threatening to ruin your makeup. Banks says that if you wear foundation, make sure to powder it very well. "Then, before you leave the house, take a washcloth, wet it, ring it out real hard, and push that washcloth all around your face, and it kind-of absorbs all of the excess powder and it also sets your face really well," she says. "And then throughout the day, don’t keep putting powder on top of a greasy face. Take a tissue first and dab it all over your face, then powder yourself after."

The "Brotox" Era Has Arrived for Men!

Giving your special guy a present is becoming less difficult as now you can add botox to the list that men are desiring these beauty treatments to keep up their image. We can now debate which of the two sex is more obsessed with youth.
Men of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds are embracing the beauty industry — from noninvasive procedures to cosmetics and salon treatments — to maximize their prospects, in both the job market and the dating scene.

“These days, when you’re in the business world, you have to look groomed,” said new Brotox and pedicure convert William Jordan, 49, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. “I don’t have a friend who doesn’t do this right now.”

According to sources;

Beauty trend quite like image-conscious South Florida, where Plantation, Fla., dermatologist Dr. Richard Greene is seeing almost as many men for cosmetic procedures as women — unheard of just a few years ago. To keep up with demand, GBS The Beauty Store’s six South Florida salons have had to truck in four times the number of men’s grooming product lines in the past couple of years.

As Father's Day approaches you can add Botox to the list, I guess it is one more option women have, it helps to take the guess work out of things.

Look out for more news as men are indulging into beauty treatments.

Beauty Trends: Are Bangs The New Accessory?

It seems the new thing this season are bangs, whether they are blunt, fringed or side swept, they are indeed the new accessory to adorn your face. I would dare to try it but I am not sure how my curly hair would conform when straightened. I think I will be skipping this one. But if you feel you can pull it off why not give it a go and throw a few highlights to up your fab factor. Ginnifer Goodwin is rocking the side swept look but with her cut she can go very classic with a Giget look. Jessica Beal who is about to tie the knot with Justin Timberlake decided to get with the fringe which gives her face more definition and draws our attention to her great smile.

After the break check how to cut your bangs with this smart tool.

Beauty News - China to Approve Non - Animal testing!

China is in the news as they will be approving non - animal testing of cosmetics ingredients. This move by China was initiated by PETA's ( People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) US branch which  funded the scientists and  have successfully guided Chinese officials towards the recognition of  a first alternative method to animal testing.

According to sources:

PETA  was concerned that despite many cosmetics companies have pledged to cease any animal testing, they were nevertheless required to perform such tests in order to market their products in China. PETA US thus awarded a grant to scientists at the Institute for In Vitro Sciences (IIVS) late last year, to meet Chinese officials and share their expertise and guidance.

Look out for more developments in the cosmetic industry as PETA seeks to bring awareness to the cruelty of animals .

Beauty News: Fujitsu Phone App that can track Your Skin!

Folks they have done it again, as smart phone maker Fujitsu is now in the beauty business as they have developed a phone app that can track the effects of the products you use on your skin. The app determines the effects of the products you use over time. To use the app you would place a color chart on your skin and the app will zero in on the color that your skin reflects once your picture is taken.

The best places to take the pictures are around your cheekbones, the nose, cheeks and the mouth. Fujitsu has hopes of partnering with skin care companies who would feature the app as a part of their line.

The Company states..

Fujitsu Laboratories has created a reference color chart that enables users to accurately measure the color of their skin using a smart phone,' says the company.
When the photograph is taken, even if hair or a finger partially obscures the standard color pattern within the chart, the segmentation of each color can be accurately extracted,' says Fujitsu.

The product is currently still under going field testing and will be launched in Japan.

Sharada's Daily Tips: How to Use Your Fan Brush!

FAN BRUSH

On the high end you can purchase your fan brush for example the Makeup Forever brand for over $40 bucks, they are very luxurious and feels great on against your skin. However, if you are on a budget or don't want to spend so much you can make a visit to  your local craft store and look for a brush that has a fan like shape, you can go synthetic if you are going to use it to apply mascara as the natural hair bristles will soak up the product and also it is difficult to keep its shape. For a fan brush to use with your bronzer  look for one that has goat hair or natural bristles.

Get Your Legs Ready for Summer!

Grace Jones proved during the Queen's Jubilee that she is the ultimate Queen of legs as she graced the stage in a corset number showing her toned and equally moisturized legs. You can bet your bottom dollar that Grace Jones is always bikini ready as her legs are always on point. So for those of us who need to get our legs ready for the waves here are some tips to help get our legs ready for the Summer.

SUMMER LEGS TIP: MOISTURIZE
If you want beautiful legs, the key is to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Pick up a super-rich moisturizer that contains SPF 15 so your legs can benefit from some extra emollients. Moisturizer can reduce your chances of getting dry, itchy, and flaky skin and make skin look healthier when you go tanning. Make sure you moisturize your legs from top to bottom after a shower and right before hitting the beach for maximum benefits. Turn down for the night with one more application of moisturizer for some extra protection overnight.

Another great way to get your legs banging is to massage away the cellulite, you can do this with this great  Ginger scrub recipe that will get your legs ready.

Ginger scrub recipe

Ginger not only increases circulation and oxygen flow throughout the body, but it also has a warming effect on the skin.

Ingredients You Will Need
2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
2 tablespoons sea salt

Directions:
Mix the ingredients together in a small bowl. These measurements should make enough scrub for your upper thighs, but if one batch won't cover the area or areas you want to tackle, double the amounts for a bigger batch. This formula goes on damp skin best so you may want to apply in the shower. Use your hands to to areas with cellulite, scrubbing in circular motions. Spend about 10 minutes massaging it into your thighs, butt or wherever you need help before rinsing with warm water.

Sun Protection for 'Dem Babies'!

As it gets hotter we must not forget dem babies, they need to be protected from the sun's harmful rays even when it is cloudy. Here are some tips to keep in mind when it comes to your little ones.

Time your outing right.

A morning stroll or late afternoon playground visit is great, but lay low at midday (between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.) when the sun is strongest.
When you do go out, protect your baby's very delicate skin with lightweight, layered clothing, a hat, and a parasol or other sunshade for her stroller.
And don't forget that clouds, no matter how big, do little to block the harmful, radiating rays of the sun. Just because you can't see them, doesn't mean they aren't there — so keep your baby covered up.

Sunscreen smarts.

Until a few years ago the American Academy of Pediatrics advised against the use of sunblock for babies under six months of age. The new guidelines say that sunscreen may be used on small areas of the body such as the face and the back of the hands if adequate clothing and shade are not available. Here, sun-savvy info:

Look for a product that has an SPF (sun protection factor) of at least 15 that protects against both kinds of ultraviolet rays — UVA and UVB — and is waterproof or water-resistant if you plan to hit the pool, beach, or backyard sprinkler. Also, seek out a sunscreen free of PABA, an ingredient that's often irritating to babies' skin. There are many especially-for-baby products on the market so read labels and choose carefully.

Spread the sunscreen all over any exposed skin 15 to 30 minutes before you go outside. And don't skimp — in this case, more is definitely better. Pay special attention to the nose, lips, and ears, using zinc oxide or a sun stick designed especially for these extra-susceptible and sensitive parts of the body.

Revive Your Tired Eyes Naturally with these Cool Tricks!

Tara Reid
I know growing up you have often heard that if you have dark or tired eyes from staying out late or maybe partying too hard using sliced cucumbers on your eyes will help. It is so true as cucumber which consists of mostly water when placed on the eye helps the hydrate the eye area and the fact that it is cold helps as well.

So if you are out of cucumbers one day you can try these other helpful tricks to revive your beautiful eyes.

Reach for the peas. Any bag of frozen food will do, but frozen baby peas have a way of fitting into the nooks and crannies around your eyes. Put a soft cloth around the plastic package to protect your skin from the frigid surface, then chill out for 5 to 15 minutes while the cold shrinks the swelling.

Make a milk bath. Milk is a natural soother if eyes are irritated as well as puffy. "Just don't use skim milk, since it doesn't contain fat, one of milk's most soothing components," says New York dermatologist Amy Wechsler, MD. Other ingredients in milk that calm swollen skin: protein, amino acids, lactic acid, and vitamins A and D. Pour milk into a bowl of ice so it gets really cold, saturate a clean washcloth, and apply to eyes for up to 15 minutes. Soak and reapply when the cloth loses its cool.

Enjoy!

Miranda Kerr's Unusual Lash Curling Tips!

Miranda Kerr is on a mission to show us that there are other alternative ways to curl your lashes.I know some of us might be scared to use the lash curler because you are afraid a piece of your eye might come off as you squeeze. So for those of us who want to try a safer more approachable method before advancing to the might lash curler why not use a good old spoon. Check out the step by step instructions.

Lash Prep
1
Prepare your eyelashes with powder. This will help to  smooth out the texture of each individual lash, ensuring that your lashes won't stick together. The powder gives your lashes a fuller look. You can use either baby powder or conventional loose powder.

2
Apply mascara to your lashes. Mascara will help reinforce and sustain the curl you will create for your lashes, as well as give them a longer appearance. Apply an even layer over all of your top lashes. Make sure to brush through all of your lashes to separate them before you move on to the curling process.

Using the Spoon
3
Hold the spoon with your right hand when curling the eyelashes on your right eye. Hold the handle of the spoon in the palm of your hand and make a fist with your pinky, ring and middle finger. Turn the inside of the spoon that you eat off of, toward you. Place your thumb on the curve of the bottom of the spoon and your pointer finger on the back of the spoon for support.

4
Curl your lashes. Try to curl them as soon after applying mascara as possible, before the mascara dries. Place the edge of the spoon where your thumb is placed, on top of your lashes. This will ensure that your mascara doesn't spread onto your eyelids. Now hold the underneath of your eyelashes with your thumb and firmly press them toward the edge of the spoon. Continue until you have perfected the curl you desire.

After the break Miranda shows us how to really do it.

Takai Launches Preservative Free Mascara

The organic movement is certainly taking over as now the Taiki Group, a manufacturer of makeup and skincare tools, dispensers and products, recently announced to have successfully eliminated preservatives from mascara formulas, while keeping the products free from microbial contamination. The issue of microbial contamination has been a major issue when it came to mascaras, because we know the serious risks of eye contamination. So with the introduction of Eco G+ we will have a mascara that provides preservative free protection. I guess the shelf life of this mascara will be short but it will be healthier. look out as Takai will be launching more products like lip glosses with no resin. Stay tuned.
